short

a very short post tonight. because typing with nine fingers is tough.

uh oh.

five stitches and a tetanus shot later, i'm bandaged up and i'll be just fine. (though i can't get the finger wet for seven days - that's going to be a challenge. that, and apparently, typing.)

Mosaic4405690

but rather than leave you with blood and gore, here are four new paintings. they're all 5x7, gouache on paper. they're not technically part of the window series, but i can see the window influence in there.

early to bed tonight. i've had enough excitement for one day!

Poor you! Everything is harder with a finger bandaged up; hope it heals quickly:)

oh no! Go rest up -and maybe you should stay away from typing for 7 days too:)(I have to admit I did laugh at seeing the photo of the knife and imagining you bleeding all over and saying "wait, just let me get the camera and then we can go to the emergency room" :)

short and bittersweet : bitter be/c of your poor finger and sweet be/c of your paintings. the green is my fave. it's clean, and yes i see a window influence, be/c looking at that one i feel it's a window to the ocean, letting in a breeze.

Oh, I have been there (working in kitchens and such) and I hope your finger heals up soon. Take it easy and do take the advice of keeping your wound dry...

Oh! I did the same thing last summer. Those stitches hurt in the close-to-bone skin of a finger, but you'll make it through. The paintings are wonderful (are you right-handed?).

ohno! how much did you, erm, cut off? :) I sliced into the same spot on my finger as once before with the bread knife a couple of weeks ago, but luckily only a little bit. Even typing with a bandaid is challenging. You must be doing the "hunt and peck". I hope it heals quickly!

goodness, emily! may you heal up quickly. i had four stitches in the very same finger last spring. amazing how much depends on one little digit.the paintings are fantastic!

yeow! when i was cook, i was always grateful that none of my cuts required stitches. i hear ice cream is good for that sort of injury. :)

and the paintings? true love. they remind me a bit of the tattoo i have (Kandinsky's invite for the Bauhaus show, 1923).

Ow! Bet it's surprising how much you need it (even with 9 others). Heal fast.
