random

my, oh my, it's hard to get back to the blog after a week like last week. hard to pick up the camera again after a week when i loved every single one of the photos i posted. (is that awful to say? that i loved those photos? well i did.)

but i'm here. because i have whole host of random things to say. and these citrus pictures are random, too. random.

still easing

first, i'm certain that you've seen the noticing project. (except for my brother. i'm certain that he hasn't seen it. he's the only member of my family who reads this blog. i think.) however, on the off-chance that you have NOT seen the noticing project, click that link straight away. alicia and heather are noticing the most lovely details of their daily lives, and pairing them together with incredible synchronicity.

i have long been a fan of 3191 (i know you've seen that one. except, again, for my brother. p. you ought to check that one out, too.). add the noticing project, sea and sky, and fresh pears, and you've got a feast for the eyes. any one of those sites alone is a meal, really. but together, in one afternoon, with a cup of tea and a cookie - a veritable feast, i tell you.

second on my random list: my grandfather turns 88 years old today. eighty eight. when i try to imagine what life must have been like when he was born eighty eight years ago - well i can't imagine it at all. i am wanting - badly, before too much more time passes - to visit my grandfather with a video camera (and a tripod) and ask him all sorts of questions about his life. his early years, his travels, all of the societal advancements (are they all advancements? i'm not sure.) he's seen in his lifetime. he has had a most unusual life, my grandfather, traveling through africa and the middle east during the 1970s and 1980s, moving to a foreign country at the age of 75. how i wish i had the pictures of his travels to share with you here. (note to self: when you go with the video camera and the tripod, make copies of those pictures. especially the one where he's wrapped in african robes. and go, already. soon.)

but that's not all.

easing, easing

i've got two new knitting projects on the needles. a hat. and a scarf. the hat is my own simple pattern based on my most favorite red fleece hat. the scarf is from this book.

and i'm moving right along with my mid-winter gocco swap projects. except that all of the progress is in my head. yeah. same with our valentines. and also the various baby gifts i've got to whip up pretty quickly here.

really, this is only a small taste of the randomness i've got going on right now. but enough, i think, for one post. i'm off tomorrow, on a short trip to the country to see some very special friends. to say that i'm excited is an understatement. i'll be back at the end of the week - with lots of fresh inspiration, i hope. at the very least, i'll be back with more randomness.

I loved your photos too. And I understand how you feel when you say you loved your own. I feel that way too, about some.

I'm moving along, in my head, as well. Although I went out and collected something to use. So I guess that's something.

there's absolutely nothing awful about loving your own photos, and admitting it. you should be proud of them!!

yay for working in one's head, and for new projects on the needles. i'm in my head still with the gocco, but am keeping my heands busy with a new knitting project too.

happy and safe travels, emily.

I think it's great to love your own photos; if you didn't love them why take them, you know? Last weeks pics were lovely, but I love the bits of yellow/orange in this weeks!
