even though your birthday kinda got hijacked by a little person with a double ear infection, and even though we got no sleep last night (ok, maybe i got a little bit of sleep and you got none); even though i'm at home today nursing a little person back to health instead of meeting you for lunch, and even though your present is not going to be quite finished by tonight; even though we're not having the delicious dinner i had planned, even though - i'm making you this cake. and i think it's gonna be good.

even though it's not the birthday celebration i've been planning, and even though i know this is not exactly what you were hoping for today; even though it's not the most perfect of actual days - i am wishing you a happy birthday. a wonderful year of thirty-seven. a beautiful year filled with adventures and love and quiet, happy moments and delicious dinners and yummy cakes. i'm wishing you all of that, and more. much, much more.
